Hi Salvia, Thanks for tagging me and sorry I wasn't able to reply right away, I'm not surprise of how Flipkey, VRBO, Homeaway and other flatporms, treatq their hosts partners. These companies has one goal in their business and that is all about money, numbers, productions, and results, and to them if your listing is not an active revenue/commission earner then yes they will shut your listing down and they will focus more on other listings that are high in commission/revenue generated. I am just so happy with Airbnb, I have no complaints and I believe we are treated fairly as their business partners, I don't know about other hosts that has many complaints or issues with Airbnb. But for me,my myself, I'd say it has been good so far... my only, disappointments are the community group changes or disbandment... I just wish and hope that they keep NHF, Anecdotes and 911 [sigh] if that happens, then you will see me here @globalhosting...

Hi, salvia. (Hey, is it case-sensitive, deborah?) Yeah, to me, the short-term rental business is rapidly spinning out of control, both in terms of involvement with other companies, our familiar groups changing, possible taxes to keep up with... salvia, thanks for tagging us. I made a comment to you when I first started hosting about your profile pic. You never responded to it that I saw, so I got to hoping it didn't come across the wrong way. I regretted posting that since, though I didn't mean any harm by it. I look back on it now & it may have come across as a newbie tryna school an established host. Ugghh. Nothing worse!

CC, You can always double check your "tagging" of others, after you make a post, then click on the name of the host that is in blue, and see if it takes you to their profile. The tags are case sensitive. I have more than one account on here, I have High Priestess, and deborah, and Alice. If you click on the box in the upper menu that has the @ sign with the icon of a person next to it, and then start entering someone's name, it gives you a choice of members to choose from.

Ummm. Still kinda lost, even though it says "Knows the neighborhood." What that means? Anyway, deborah, I couldn't find where the people's names in blue were. Then I stumbled on putting it into "web mode" or whatever. Only then did I see the people's names in blue. And I'm also concluding that it's not necessarily case-sensitive. I'm still messing with it. salvia or salvia or both or either, kindly let me know if I'm connecting with you. (I'm really too old for new skill sets like this!). Plus, I mean to be responding to something, not creating a new something, but anyway, here goes. A need a cherry-flavored BC after this.

CC ... THe names are case-sensitive, but if you click on the button that says "insert user link", and enter the name, then click on the right person when you see various group members come up, it will automatically put the name in. Most names are lower case on here. If you enter the upper case and the person's name is really lower case, as in "@ Cheyenne" , it will still put in the correct name, I believe, unless there is another member who has the upper case, you would then get the other member. I hope that isn't too confusing.

No, not confusing. Thanks, Deborah. I am wondering, though, where the thread all went. I will research it, but I don't know where to see the replies if any.

Now with opening up the new Blog website associated with this forum, I am finally getting the chance to do something I have wanted to do for quite some time -- tell part of my story, as it relates to how/why I began to be an Airbnb host. I am telling this story in segments, since it is long. SEe the first part here: globalhostingblogs.com/2015/11/26/goodbye-to-roommates/

So happy to see some familiar faces or names here. I so miss everyone! Each of you have encouraged me, lifted me up when I was down, gave me wise advise and just provided great friendship sprinkled with a few laughs. I wish we could just have a "New Hosts' meet and greet somewhere. I am in Southern California if anyone is interested in meeting up let me know. Thanks everyone for your contribution to my life and sanity of being an Airbnb Host.
